HLCS Committees

HLCS has several special and standing committess. Most of these committees are currently unfilled and have not been active for several years as organized bodies. The incoming National Board of Directors would like to re-establish active committees in these areas at the National level (descriptions are taken directly from the HLCS Bylaws):

Research and Recovery

The Committee shall be responsible for:

a.Gathering and organizing information about horned lizards from existing sources.
b.Developing and supporting research proposals regarding horned lizard natural history, ecological requirements, and population demographics.
c.Supporting strategies to preserve existing horned lizard populations in situ.
d.Pursuing strategies for the propagation of horned lizards in order to maintain or reestablish local populations.
e.Providing assistance to chapters regarding horned lizard research and recovery.


Marketing/Publicity

The Marketing/Publicity Committee shall consist of at least three active members and shall be responsible for new Chapter development, National Newsletter, membership drives and shall develop and annually review existing and proposed publications of the Corporation and recommend changes to the NBOD as necessary.

Fundraising

The Fund Raising Committee shall consist of at least three active members and include the Secretary/Treasurer of the Corporation. They shall investigate and solicit alternate sources of income outside of dues and report the same to the NBOD.

Education

The Education Committee shall consist of at least three active members of the Corporation. The Education Committee shall be responsible for:

a.The development and scheduling of workshops, field trips and other activities for members at the National Annual Meeting.
b.Providing assistance to Chapters in the form of educational materials and media for use in educational institutions or other public forums.
